Pied Piper Preschool prides itself on being the longest serving Preschool in Thatcham. First opening its doors to local families back in 1986 and having celebrated its 40th Birthday this year! Over the years it has become a pillar of the local community and contributed to the development of hundreds of children.
Thanks to the love and support of our wonderful team of staff and the families that attend- Pied Piper continues to thrive through the years.

Prematurity Awareness Award
Thanks to the hard-work and efforts of our amazing team (who all individually took part in the training required). We are proud to have now become a recognised Prematurity Awareness setting!
We are extremely proud of our team for this achievement- helping Pied Piper to become 1 of only 300 education settings in the UK that has this recognition. Our team have learnt so much about the potential affects of prematurity on children's development- and intend to use all of the knowledge gained to further benefit the individual needs of all of our students.
New Baby and Toddler Group!!!
On Friday the 11th of September 2026 we opened up our very own parent and child group to the local community. Offering an hour and a half session every Friday (during term-time) and welcoming all families with children from birth up to school age.
Our wonderful team provide a wide range of toys and activities for the children to enjoy with their parents/ carers- as well as songs and a story to end the session.
We have found this session to be a great success so far- bringing local families together and developing the confidence of our little visitors.
All families welcome! £3 entry per family/ Every Friday during Term-time 12:00- 1:30 pm.
(Tea and coffee included plus lunch table for hungry tummies).
A massive thank-you to Thames Valley Police for visiting our children to talk about the role of a police officer and how you are there to help us. The children had so much fun learning about the duties of a police officer, trying on different pieces of uniform, exploring the different pieces of equipment and of course… turning on the siren in the police car!

At our last inspection in 2021, we were graded Good by Ofsted. We have an excellent reputation within the local community and parents whose children have attended regularly recommend us.

Our long standing, dedicated and caring team of staff provide a fun environment that supports children’s learning and development.
We are very proud to have an extremely experienced team of staff- who are all commited to the progress of every child in our care. All of our team have Qualified at NVQ Level 3 or higher; plus hold years of experience both here at Pied Piper and in other child care settings: including SEN.

Here at Pied Piper we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum (EYFS). Children are well supported through a range of activities and routines that support all 7 areas of their learning and development.
Our goal is to support each child as an individual- to help them develop the skills, independence and confidence needed for their transition into school.
